Curling VR — Privacy Policy
Curling VR ("the game") is published by Francisco Miguel Durand y Böning, Brennerpaßstr. 1, 81547 München, Germany ("we", "us"). He is the controller responsible for the processing described here. Contact for privacy questions: hallo(at)franciscodurand.de.
This policy explains what information the game uses, why, and what choices you have. We keep it short because the game uses very little data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
- We do not show ads.
- We do not run analytics or tracking.
- We do not ask for your real name, email address, location, voice or camera.
- The game has no voice chat and no text chat.
Information from your Meta account (Meta Quest)
On the Meta Quest the game uses the Meta Platform SDK. With your permission (granted through Meta), the game receives:
- Meta user ID and Oculus username: used to show your name as the default player name on the in-game scoreboard. You can replace it with a name of your own.
- Entitlement check: Meta confirms that you own the game.
- Age group (child 10–12, teen 13–17, adult 18+, or unknown): used only to switch off online play and friend invites for players in the child age group, as Meta requires. If the age group is unknown, nothing is switched off.
- Friends and invites: when you open a private room, Meta shows you to your friends as joinable. You can then invite friends through Meta's own invite panel. When a friend accepts, the game joins them to your room. The game never reads or stores your friends list; the invite panel belongs to Meta.
This information stays on your headset for the current session. We do not send it to our own servers (we have none) and we do not store it.
Online play (Unity Gaming Services)
Public matches and private rooms use Unity Gaming Services by Unity Technologies (Authentication, Multiplayer sessions and Relay):
- When you first play online, Unity creates an anonymous player ID for your device. It is not linked to your Meta account.
- Unity also creates a generated player name, which your opponent sees during a match.
- To connect two players, Unity's servers process technical data such as your IP address, the session and the room code.
- The positions of your stones, broom and hands are exchanged with your opponent during a match.
Unity processes this data as our service provider. See Unity's privacy policy: https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy
Reporting other players (Meta's reporting service)
During an online match you can report your opponent through the Meta button (Report). The report form belongs to Meta: Meta's User Reporting Service collects the report and passes it to us in encrypted form.
- A report contains the reason you chose, anything you wrote, and the Meta accounts of the reporting and the reported player.
- We use reports only to look into the behaviour reported and to respond to it, as Meta's Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences requires.
- We keep a report only as long as we need it to handle it, at most six months, and then delete it.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in fair and safe online play (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
What Meta itself processes when you use the report form is governed by Meta's privacy policy.
Data stored on your headset
The game keeps the following only on your device:
- your settings and player profile (level, stance, crouch calibration, names you typed);
- a saved match;
- a local log file used for troubleshooting.
Uninstalling the game removes them. Nothing of this is uploaded.
Children
The game is not directed at children under 13. For players Meta reports as 10–12 years old, online play and friend invites are turned off. Local play on one headset remains available.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to its processing.
- Meta account data: Meta's settings and Meta's privacy policy apply: https://www.meta.com/legal/privacy-policy/
- Unity anonymous player ID: contact us at hallo(at)franciscodurand.de and we will have it deleted.
- Reports: contact us at hallo(at)franciscodurand.de to see or delete a report that concerns you.
- Complaints: you may also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Bavarian State Office for Data Protection Supervision (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, Germany.
